Is homer pro or against war in the iliad10/29/2023 ![]() ![]() In this document, we shall bestow an analysis upon these utterances, with the context in mind, to tell whether the characters themselves support the prospect of war or not. Various characters throughout the poem, however, are seen demonstrating behavior and having a dialog that is either pro-war or against it. Thus, one can interpret the poem as having a neutral stance in the matters of war, at least when the author is considered. The poem itself gives an account of events and not once does the author voice his opinion throughout the poem. The Iliad is a poem by homer that was set towards the end of the ten-year siege of the city of Troy and told of tales of battle and proceedings during the weeks of conflict involving the warrior Achilles and King Agamemnon.
